TVV chief, among 2, held for ‘links’ with Maoists

Hyderabad:

Two persons, including the president of Telangana Vidyarthi Vedika (TVV) B Maddileti, have been arrested here on the charge of working for the banned Maoists, police said on Tuesday.

Maddileti and Nalamasi Krishna, who is associated with the Telangana Praja Front (TPF), were the arrested.

A case was registered in Jogulamba Gadwal district against the two after it was revealed they were working for the Maoists by way of recruitment, funding, among other activities, in urban areas, a police official said.

Maoist literature, circulars, and other incriminating material were seized from the two.

On October 10, an assistant professor (on contract) of city-based Osmania University was arrested for allegedly having links with the banned group.

The assistant professor K Jagan, also a member of Viplava Rachayitula Sangham (Virasam), a revolutionary writers association, was charged under sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
