Thane:
The agitation launched by tribals at some places in Thane, Palghar, Raigad and Nashik districts of Maharashtra over their various demands, including getting ration cards, continued for the fifth day on Saturday, an organisation that is spearheading the protest said.
Hundreds of tribals from remote villages in these four districts have been protesting against the government over their demands. Apart from ration cards, they have been demanding essential commodities and work under the Employment Guarantee Scheme (EGS).
The Shramjivi Sanghatana, which is leading the protest, said that the agitation could be intensified in the coming days if their demands were not met.
The agitation is being carried out at 21 different locations outside the tehsil offices in the four districts.
The number of agitators at each protest site is not more than 50 persons at a time, it said.
