NEW DELHI:
By Aditya Vikram Singh/THE year- 2020 saw Sonu Sood tirelessly and selflessly working for the needy as they struggled through the on-going Covid-19 pandemic. Right from helping migrant labourers stranded in the city reach their hometowns, organising food drives and giving his hotel to frontline workers to distributing essentials to a circus troupe and extending a helping hand to underprivileged patients and students, the actor became an icon of altruism who inspired millions across the country. And it seems like there’s no stopping him!
Sonu is now all set to launch an application called Sonu For You which is touted to bring about a revolution in terms of healthcare in the country. People from all nooks and corners of India can register themselves on the portal which is aimed at connecting blood donors to donees in urgent need of blood.
What sets this portal apart from blood banks is that Sonu For You helps donees reach out to donors and on receiving a request about the requirement, donors can immediately reach the hospital and donate their blood. Already being hailed as the country’s biggest blood bank, Sonu For You promises to help patients with a rare blood group.
Talking about it, Sonu says, “Sonu For You was conceived by me and my friend, Johnson. Every time someone needs blood on an urgent basis and we share the same on social media, we receive responses from many. So we thought, why not come with an app that serves the same purpose?”
He adds, “Going to a blood bank to search for a certain blood group can take a long time especially in cases of rare blood groups. Every year, 12000 patients in India die due to lack of donated blood. With this app, we want to convey the message that our 20 minutes can save someone’s life.”
