The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has decided to add hundred more science clubs in its primary schools during this year. Thus the number of science clubs will go upto 240.
It organized a felicitation function to award certificates and science kits to the coordinators of those 59 science clubs which have been upgraded during financial year 2018-19.
Chairman, standing committee, Dr.Bhupender Gupta, leader of house, Kamaljeet Sehrawat and chairperson, education committee, Dr. Nandini Sharma, presented certificates and science kits to the science coordinators.
Speaking on the occasion Gupta said that the science clubs have been achieving a lot but this very fact is not being publicized due to paucity of the funds. He appreciated the role of teachers in inspiring students to come forward in scientific advancement.
He further stated that the teachers have been imparting traditional values and only because of this our culture is still stands relevant.
Sehrawat in her remarks stated that the science clubs have been constituted in the schools across the country at the instructions of Prime Minister so that the budding students could be inspired to become great scientists with a hope to take our scientific advancement to the highest level.
In all 61 schools have been upgraded during 2019-20 whereas 59 science clubs in primary schools received upgradation during 2018-19. As many as 13 science clubs have been upgraded to gold, 30 to silver and 16 to bronze category in the year 2018-19. The upgraded 61 science clubs for 2019-20 will be felicitated in a separate function later.
