The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) here on Wednesday signed an MOU with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) to install electric public vehicle charging points at 18 parking lots.
The MOU signing ceremony held in the office of R.K.Singh , Minister of Power, Shram Shakti Bhawan in the presence of Lt. governor of Delhi Anil Baijal, commissioner, SDMC, Gyanesh Bharti, Saurabh Kumar MD, EESL, Venkatesh Diwedi, director projects EESL, and others were also present.
Union Minister of Power R.K.Singh said that the government’s objective is to use of clean fuel and become less dependent on fossil fuel under which anybody can charge its e-vehicle anywhere. For that we keep simple pricing that is cost of supply is maximum 50% of supply to provide cheap charging facility to the general public. He further said that use for Delhi electric vehicle is much cheaper and is the only way of providing clean environment.
Baijal stated that government is planning to do away with the conversion charges for the land used for installation of e-vehicle public charging station. He also said that just using e-vehicles will not help unless or until, we are not able to provide charging facilities well in advance for e-vehicles.
However, in first phase SDMC has given approval for installation of charging stations at 18 locations i.e. Aurobindo Place Market, B6 Safdarjung Enclave, GK-1 N Block Market, GK-1 R Block Market, Sukhda Hospital, Hauz Khas Village, Malviya Nagar main market, Max hospital Saket, PVR Priya Vasant Vihar, SDA Rose Garden, Siri Fort Auditorium, H-block Market, Sarita Vihar, Lajpat Nagar, Living Style Mall Jasola, Nehru Place – BSES, Nehru Place – Plot No.81-85, Janakpuri District Center- On the deck, Dwarka Sec-6 Market, Dwarka Sec-12 Metro Station.
