A rape accused has been caught eleven days after his escape from Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu jail, police said on Monday.

A resident of Tikra Baudi village, Khem Raj was caught by the Kullu police at Pirdi near Beas river on Sunday when he was going by foot to seek help from his friends in Bhuntar, Kullu superintendent of police Gaurav Singh said.

He escaped in the early hours on January 15 from Kullu jail where he was lodged in connection with a case registered against him under section 376 (rape) of the IPC at Manali police station, he added.

During interrogation, he disclosed that he had hidden himself at Mahunti Nag next to the Bijli Mahadev where he ate only biscuits and drank water for eleven days.

On Sunday, he came from Mahunti Nag and was going to Bhuntar but was caught by the police.
