Rains in some parts of Delhi brings relief from heat

Rains lashed most parts of Punjab and Haryana on Saturday, bringing down maximum temperatures below normal levels in the two states.

Chandigarh and Ludhiana received 27.3 mm and 16 mm rainfall, respectively, the MeT Department said.

Bhiwani recorded 15 mm rainfall, followed by Narnaul 8 mm, Patiala and Ambala 3 mm each, 1.8 mm in Karnal and 0.6 mm in Amritsar, it said.

The maximum temperature in Hisar was recorded at 32.6 degrees Celsius, four notches below the normal, and Amritsar recorded a high of 31.2 degrees Celsius.

Among other places, Karnal recorded a high of 31 degrees celsius, followed by Ludhiana 30.9 and Patiala 30.6 degrees Celsius.

Chandigarh, the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, registered a maximum temperature of 30.8 degrees celsius, two notches below the normal.

The weather office has predicted light to moderate rains in the region during the next 48 hours.
