Pune:
With 243 more people testing coronavirus positive in the last 24 hours, the tally in Pune district of Maharashtra rose to 8,717 on Thursday, a health official said.
The toll in the district, the second worst-hit by COVID-19 after Mumbai in the state, reached 391 as 13 more people died due to the infection, the official said.
“Of the 243 cases, 193 were found in Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) limits, where the number of patients now stood at 7,338,” he said.
Thirty-five new cases were detected in neighbouring Pimpri-Chinchwad township, taking the COVID-19 count to 622, the official said.
The number of positive cases in rural and Pune Cantonment Board areas rose to 757 with the detection of 15 new infections, he said.
