Rains in some parts of Delhi brings relief from heat

After a sunny day, several districts of Uttar Pradesh received rainfall on Friday.

Lucknow recorded 13.6 mm rainfall and the minimum temperature in the state capital settled at 13 degrees Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Department, Basti was the coldest place at 7 degree Celsius and received 7 mm rainfall, followed by Meerut which recorded a low of 8.8 degrees Celsius.

The weatherman has forecast dry weather in most parts of the state for Saturday.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials concerned to keep a close watch on the ‘Rain baseras’ (night shelters) set up for the homeless and make arrangement of bonfires and blankets for the poor.

According to a government statement, the chief minister has asked the district magistrates to visit ‘Rain baseras’ and ensure proper arrangements there.

The state government has so far distributed more than 5 lakh blankets at these shelters in all districts. Presently, 2,500 ‘Rain baseras’ are providing night shelter to the poor in the state, the statement added.

Besides, social organisations have also been asked to extend support in this task, it added.
