Adrenaline levels rose high in the Sangam City as Indian women Hockey team beats Australia 1-0 to confirm its berth in semi-finals at Tokyo Olympics. Game’s only goal was scored in the 22nd minute by North Central Railway’s wonder girl Gurjeet Kaur.
As the match ended, with a victory for India, celebrations started in NCR headquarters and Prayagraj Division.
Upon getting the news, the new GM who was on his way to Prayagraj station decided to visit the selfie point where cut outs of Nisha and Gurjeet are installed. Immediately after his arrival at Prayagraj station, General Manager Pramod Kumar, along with DRM Prayagraj Mohit Chandra went to the selfie point and cheered for team India.
“This is a proud moment for all of us. We wish Indian team performs to its best and brings laurels to the nation” said Kumar after getting a selfie. President, NCR Women Welfare Organization Poonam Kumar joined the celebrations and said “Gurjeet is an inspiration to the women and budding female players. We wish all the best to the Indian team”
Hailing from a village in Amritsar, Punjab, Gurjeet Kaur is working as senior clerk in pass section of DRM office Prayagraj.
Monday witnessed a jubilant mood in the Divisional office when officers and employees gathered near Gurjeet’s working table and celebrated.

Later, in the afternoon while addressing the officers as the GM hold his first meeting in NCR, GM congratulated the sports association. Sharad Mehta, President NCR Sports association said, “We are trying to give best possible environment to our sportspersons so that NCR could give its best to the nation in the field of sports”
