A portable ventilator weighing 2.5 kg has been manufactured by a locally based company.
The government of India has placed order for 10,000 such ventilators.
Shivam Mishra, sales and marketing manager of AGVA Medicare located at sector-7, says that normal ventilator can be used only in hospitals. Besides, it is costlier and heavier. While the normal ventilator costs Rs 10 to Rs 12 lakh, the newly manufactured portable ventilator is available only at Rs 1.5 lakh with only 2.5 kg , he added.
It can be used I clinic, hotel, home, train and other places. It has four hour power backup so it can be used in areas where power supply is poor.
Mishra further says that this ventilator is being produced under the Make in India programme. The government of India has placed order for 10,000 ventilators. About 3000 portable ventilators have been manufactured. Hopefully, these 10000 ventilators would be handed over the government of India by first week of May. We have also received orders from many private hospitals and others for these ventilators.
