A nine-year-old girl cheated death as a venomous snake was found curled up in her shoe she had left outside her house near here on Tuesday.
Avanthika slipped on the shoes, felt something slimy on her toe and raised an alarm.
Soon, she found it to be a snake and her parents called the snake-catcher up after covering the shoe with a vessel so that the reptile could not escape.
The snake-catcher arrived, pulled the cobra, about two-foot long, out of the footwear.
Later, the reptile was released in the forest area.
Forest officials said the snake could have crawled into the shoe to keep itself warm.
