New York City authorities are warning the public to avoid an area of Manhattan Wednesday morning as users on social media are sharing videos and images of a construction crane on fire.
“Expect emergency personnel near 10th Avenue between W 41st Street and W 42nd Street, Manhattan. Use alternate routes,” the city’s official emergency notification system said in a tweet.
Fox News Digital has reached out to the New York City Fire Department for comment.
The source of the fire is not immediately clear.
Firefighters could be on scene trying to put out the blaze.
One video shared on Twitter appears to show the arm of a crane attached to a building breaking off and hitting a building across the street, sending debris falling.
The arm then plummets to the ground and a loud noise could be heard while people are seen running away from the scene.
