New Delhi:
Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and national spokesperson Raghav Chadha on Sunday claimed that neither the Hindus nor the Muslim, Sikh and others are safe in BJP rule. He said that the family of victim Rinku Sharma has alleged that uttering Jai Shri Ram has become unsafe in Delhi’.
Addressing a press conference, Chadha asserted that the citizens of Delhi have voted for the BJP at the centre in a huge majority for the last two consecutive terms but instead, the BJP has miserably failed to protect the Delhiites.
He asked why didn’t Amit Shah visit the family of Rinku Sharma and why didn’t he tweet about this matter? Chadha also asked is it right for the Home Minister to go on an election campaign in Bengal and not to be present in Delhi when such an incident has taken place.
Have the citizens of Delhi voted for the BJP so that they can’t even utter Jai Shri Ram, he asked.
Chadha also slammed Delhi police and asked why didn’t the Police Commissioner of Delhi yet not reached out to the family of Rinku Sharma.
He said that in Bengal, Home Minister is condemning the alleged killings of BJP workers but in Delhi when Rinku Sharma was murdered then he is silent; why such double standards? He said that the Aam Aadmi Party standing beside the family of Rinku Sharma and extending all assistance.
The AAP leader also expressed his tributes for the martyrs of the Pulwama attack before the press conference.
Chadha said, “You all know that some days back a young boy named Rinku Sharma was beaten to death at the Mangolpuri area of New Delhi. From yesterday various statements are coming from his family members that Rinku Sharma was a disciple of Lord Ram. The Aam Aadmi Party demands that every aspect of the case should be probed very carefully. The mother and the brother of Rinku Sharma had said that he used to utter Jai Shri Ram which has a connection with his murder. Today on behalf of the Aam Aadmi Party I want to seek the attention of Home Minister Amit Shah and ask weather under BJP rule a person who says Jai Sri Ram slogan is safe or not.”
He said, “The Delhi police comes under the BJP ruled central government. The citizens of Delhi have voted for the BJP in the last two general elections but despite that, the BJP is miserably failing to protect the law and order situation of the national capital. The citizens of Delhi have made seven MPs from the Bharatiya Janata Party for the two consecutive terms. Despite this support which has made Shri Amit Shah the Home Minister of India and Shri Narendra Modi the prime minister of India today in Delhi the number of heinous crimes is increasing.”
Chadha said, “The citizens of Delhi never expected that under the BJP neither the Hindus will be safe nor the Muslims, Sikhs and other communities will be safe. The Bharatiya Janata Party claims that they are a political party of the Hindus and the Hindus of India vote for the BJP. Today I want to tell the BJP that under their regime the Hindus are absolutely unsafe. Infact people from every religion are unsafe. Today it is very clear that if under the Delhi police jurisdiction such heinous crime can happen in Delhi then there is no doubt that the Hindus are not safe.
“If in the national capital of India a person cannot utter Jai Shri Ram then where can he do that,” he asked.
He said, “The Delhi police is under the Ministry of home affairs which is led by Home Minister Amit Shah. Delhi chief minister or the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi have no jurisdiction in the functioning of the Delhi police.
“I also want to ask whether it is right for the Home Minister to go on an election campaign in Bengal and not to be present in Delhi when such an incident has taken place,” he said.
“The Delhi Police Commissioner is the permanent executive of the government and the Home Minister is the political executive. But none of them has visited the family of the victim yet. I also want to ask when will the BJP ruled central government announce Rs 1 crore compensation for the victim’s family? The AAP demands Rs 1 crore compensation for Rinku Sharma’s family,” Chadha asserted.
