Member of Parliament Meenakashi Lekhi inaugurated façade lighting, air-conditioned and general waiting halls New Delhi railway station on Wednesday.
SC Jain, divisional railway manager, Delhi and other railway officers were also present on this occasion.
The façade lighting has been installed at a total cost of Rs. 70 lakhs approximately. This has enhanced the beauty of newly developed station building at Paharganj side. The newly upgraded waiting rooms has been executed by Delhi Division on pilot project basis for first time over Indian Railway on ROMT Model (Renovate Operate Maintain Transfer Model) . ROMT Model not only saved the cost of operation on exchequer but have generated non fare revenue for Railways also.
This project was conceptualized, processed and implemented by commercial team of Delhi Division and has received positive response and feedback from passengers and given a new look to age old waiting rooms. The rooms are now provided with comfortable seats, modern design floor ,ceiling and toilets etc.
Addressing the gathering, Lekhi said that these works at New Delhi Railway station would project a positive image of the premier railway station of the capital of India and will give pleasant experience to the passenger visiting the station.
