Odisha-based Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), a deemed university, has been ranked within 350 in the 2019 ‘Times Higher Education Asia University’ rankings, institute official said Wednesday.
KIIT is among the few universities in the country to get a place in the Asia University Rankings 2019.
The ranking is made on the basis of the institute’s performance in terms of teaching, research, knowledge transfer and some other factors, the official said.
KIIT is the only self-financing university from eastern India to enter the prestigious Asia university rankings.
Earlier, it had achieved an impressive position in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2019 and World University Impact Rankings 2019, KIIT said in a release.
According to the ranking report, KIIT has been rated high on number of FTE (full time basis) students (19,633), number of students per staff (14), international students (2 per cent) and female-male ratio (37:63).
KIIT got the status of being among the top level universities though it is just 22 years old as an institution for professional education and 15 years old as an university, the official said.
