Job aspirants all set to observe PM Modi’s birthday as ‘Unemployment Day’

CMS holds Global Interfaith Convention to promote communal harmony

New Delhi:

Unemployed youths and competitive examinees, including the railway and SSC aspirants, are all set to observe Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday i.e. September 17 as the National Unemployment Day, the move aimed to lodge protest against prevailing unemployment in the country and the pending recruitment process in various government jobs.

The series of protest by students started following the government’s decision to conduct NEET and JEE amidst the pandemic. Later, on September 5 at 5 PM reports came from across the country that government job aspirants agitated by clapping and beating ‘thalis’. They were protesting over the delayed results of the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) of the Staff Selection Commission (SSC-CGL) exam and the Railway Recruitment Board’s Non-Technical Popular Categories (RRB NTPC) recruitment test.

It is worth mentioning that on March 22, India observed Janata Curfew and supported the call by PM Modi for clapping and beating Thalis for hailing the COVID-19 warriors. Mocking the event, aspirants arranged event wherein they clapped and beaten Thalis to express their solidarity with unemployed youth.

On the day, #5Baje5Minutes became one of the top trends on Twitter.

Irony is that despite having a massive protest, these agitators are merely getting any media attention. However, they made their presence felt on social media, especially on Twitter, wherein the previous protests had become top trends

Followed by this, on September 9, these job aspirants once again mocked PM Modi’s earlier call wherein the PM had asked citizens to demonstrate a collective will to fight coronavirus by lighting candles, lamps and hold mobile phone torches for nine minutes from 9 p.m. on April 5. Job aspirants did the same on September 9, for 9 minutes at 9 PM to protest delay in recruitments and the prevailing unemployment. The protest got support from political parties including the Congress and the Akhilesh Yadav led Samajwadi Party.

Now they are all set to observe PM Modi’s birthday as National Unemployment Day. But the irony is that despite having a massive protest, these agitators are merely getting any media attention. However, they made their presence felt on social media, especially on Twitter, wherein the previous protests had become top trends.
