Hingoli tense after clash between two groups on Eid day

Mumbai:

Shiv Sena supporters and members of the Muslim community clashed and hurled stones on Monday in Hingoli district of Maharashtra, around 580 kms from here, police said.

Information about injuries, if any, caused to anybody is not available immediately.

The incident occurred around 9:30 am between Aundha Idgah and Nanded Naka areas when members of the Sena’s ‘Kawad Yatra’ and Muslims gathered for the Eid al-Adha prayers came face to face, an official said.

A clash broke out after heated arguments between both the sides which led to stone-pelting, he said.

The exact trigger behind the violence is not yet known.

Police personnel are deployed in large number in the area which falls under Aurangabad division of Marathwada.

Police are yet to register a case or make arrests.
