New Delhi:
Ministry of Home Affairs has eased lockdown restrictions for some shops that are not associated with essential goods and services. In an order, the MHA has said that all shops registered under the Shops and Establishment Act of the respective State/UT, including shops in residential complexes and market complexes have been permitted to open amid the coronavirus lockdown.
However the shops in multi-brand and single brand malls are not permitted to operate. The shops have been strictly advised to start operations with 50% strength of workers and compulsory wearing of masks and social distancing being mandatory. Meanwhile, the exemptions will not be given in hotspots and containment areas.
The order issued on Friday amends the previous order issued by the Centre on April 15 which extended the 21-day nationwide lockdown further by 19 days till May 3.
The MHA official twitter handle tweeted, “All registered shops regd under Shops & Establishment Act of respective States/ UTs, including shops in residential complexes, neighborhood & standalone shops exempted from #lockdown restrictions. Prohibited: Shops in single & multi brand malls.”
