Snow, heavy rain forecast in Himachal

The meteorological department on Friday forecast that Himachal Pradesh may receive rain and snowfall after December 10.

Rain and snowfall may occur in the middle and higher hills of the state, whereas thundershowers may take place in the plains and lower hills on December 11 and 12, Shimla Meteorological Centre Director Manmohan Singh said.

Meanwhile, intense cold wave conditions continued unabated with Lahaul-Spiti’s Keylong recording the lowest minimum temperature in the state at minus 9 degrees Celsius, he said.

Kalpa in Kinnaur district recorded a minimum temperature of minus 0.6 degrees Celsius and Manali recorded a low of minus 1 degrees Celsius, Singh added.

The minimum temperatures in Shimla, Dalhousie and Una were 5.2, 5.5 and 6 degrees Celsius respectively, Singh said.
