Thane:
A powerloom factory was gutted in a major fire that broke out in Bhiwandi town of Maharashtra’s Thane district in the wee hours of Saturday, an official said.
No casualty was reported in the incident, he said.
The blaze erupted around 3 am at the factory located in Sonibai Compound of Dhamankar Naka area, Santosh Kadam, chief of the Thane Municipal Corporation’s Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC), said.
On being alerted, two fire engines of the Bhiwandi Nizampur City Municipal Corporation rushed to the spot.
“Nobody was injured in the fire,” Kadam said, adding that the firefighting operation is still underway.
The cause of the fire was not yet known, he added.
On Friday, another powerloom unit situated on Naigaon Road in the town was gutted in a devastating fire.
Bhiwandi is known as a powerloom hub.
