DMRC extends helping hands to corona warriors, needy persons

COVID-19: Delhi records 111 deaths, 5,879 fresh cases

New Delhi:

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) claims to have taken steps to help the needy during the lockdown period.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, the DMRC is taking a number of measures during the ongoing lockdown to reach out to the personnel who are extending their services to combat the Covid 19 pandemic, said a release.

Food distribution drives have been organised at areas such as Nigambodh Ghat, Bangla Sahib and Yamuna Bank and Garhi Mandu to provide support to those in need. More such drives will be organised in the days to come.

The Delhi Metro, in association with one of its vendors Space Tele is also reaching out to the Covid warriors mainly the Delhi Police personnel deployed at 70 barricades and manning PCRs. It  is serving such staff with masks, sanitizers and some food items like biscuits and juices etc.

In areas such as Sonia Vihar and Jagatpuri also, tea and refreshments are being provided to the security personnel who are deputed at the barricade points on the streets.

DMRC has also decided to contribute one day’s basic pay (As on April 2020) of its employees towards the PM CARES fund to tackle the Covid 19 pandemic. The DMRC has around 14,500 employees at present.
