COVID-19: UP reports 104 new cases, 3 deaths

Three more people succumbed to COVID-19 in Uttar Pradesh, taking the death toll from the disease to 8,712, while 104 fresh cases raised the infection tally to 6,02,592, officials said on Friday.

Additional Chief Secreatry, Health, Amit Mohan Prasad told reporters here that 165 patients were also discharged in the past 24 hours after recovering from the virus.

The number of active cases in the state stands at 2,521 while 5,91,359 people have been treated and discharged, Prasad said.

UP has a COVID-19 recovery rate of 98.1 per cent, he said, adding 647 of the total active cases are in home isolation.

On Thursday, over 1.36 lakh samples were tested to detect COVID-19 and so far the state has conducted over 3.01 crore such tests, the senior official said.

Vaccination of frontline workers is under way in the state and till now over 11 lakh people have been inoculated against COVID-19, he said.
