Appreciating the hardworks of scientists here at ISRO, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that there are ups and downs in life and the country is proud of ISRO for what it has achieved so far. PM was addressing ISRO scientists soon after ISRO lost signals from Vikram lander.
It may be mentioned that the scientists at ISRO lost signals from Vikram lander soon after it completed rough braking phase successfully. The fine braking phase was initiated but signals from the lander lost. Monitoring system awaiting data from Vikram lander.
ISRO chief, K Sivan, said that Vikram descent was normal up to altitude of 2.1 km. Then we lost communication. Data is being analysed.
India’s second mission to the Moon, Chandrayaan-2 is an attempt to land near the south pole of the Moon between 1:30 and 2:30 am Saturday. Chandrayaan-2’s lander Vikram house the six-wheeled rover Pragyaan that will explore the lunar surface for around 14 Earth days. The Chandrayaan-2 mission also consists of an orbiter that will revolve around the Moon for around a year.
