Cold to severe cold day conditions prevailed at a few places in eastern Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places over the western part of the state during the past 24 hours, MeT officials said on Thursday.
They said dense to very dense fog also occurred at many places in the state.
Cold conditions also prevailed at isolated places over the state, they said.
Day temperatures rose “markedly” in Agra and Kanpur divisions and rose “appreciably” in Prayagraj, Jhansi and Meerut divisions, officials said.
The mercury fell “appreciably” in Bareilly division and there was no large change the remaining divisions of the state, they said, adding that the temperature was also below normal in Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Prayagraj, Lucknow, Moradabad, Bareilly and Jhansi divisions.
The temperature was also below normal in Meerut division but normal in the remaining divisions of the state.
Night temperatures fell “appreciably” in Varanasi division and rose “appreciably” in Meerut division, they said.
It was “markedly” below normal in Varanasi and Prayagraj divisions and “appreciably” below normal in Ayodhya, Kanpur, Lucknow, Bareilly and Jhansi divisions, they said.
The lowest temperature was recorded at Etawah at 1.4 degrees celsius while the highest temperature was recorded at 22.0 degrees celsius at Agra, they said.
The MeT department predicted very dense fog at a few places over eastern UP and isolated parts of western UP in the morning on Friday.
They said cold day to severe cold day conditions were very likely at many places over eastern parts of the state and in isolated areas over west UP.
They warned that ground frost was very likely at isolated places over west UP.
