COVID surge, vaccine shortages spread beyond India’s borders

New Delhi:

The Centre has floated Requests for Proposal (RFP) for Light House Projects (LHPs) at six sites under the Global Housing Technology Challenge-India (GHTC-India).

According to the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry, these LHPs will be constructed at Indore, Rajkot, Chennai, Ranchi, Agartala and Lucknow.

“A total of 6,368 houses, including associated facilities and services, will be constructed by using six distinct alternate technologies suitable to the geo-climatic conditions at selected sites within the framework of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) PMAY(U) Mission,” the HUA Ministry said in a statement.

Selected agencies which will complete the construction of LHPs within a stipulated period of 12 months will be rewarded with USD 20,000 each and will also get an opportunity to work in future, it stated.

In the statement, HUA Secretary Durga Shanker Mishra opined that selected sites for LHPs will serve as open laboratories for live demonstration and receive due attention from academia, practitioners and media.
