Arun Jaitley shifted to ICU at AIIMS, PM Modi visits hospital

Hours after being admitted to AIIMS, former Union minister and a senior BJP leader, Arun Jaitley has been now shifted to intensive care unit of the Cardio-Neuro center of the hospital. Jaitley was taken to AIIMS on Friday morning after he complained of breathing problems.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan and other leaders visited Jaitley in the hospital.

“Shri Arun Jaitley was admitted to AIIMS today morning. He is currently undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit under the supervision of a multidisciplinary team of doctors. At present he is haemodynamically stable,” a hospital release informed.

Sources earlier said that Jaitley was taken to AIIMS for routine health checkup at around 11 AM.

It may be mentioned that on May 14, 2018, Jaitley was operated upon for kidney transplant at the AIIMS. Later in January 2019, he was diagnosed with a rare form of soft-tissue sarcoma.

Jaitley, born 28 December 1952, had served as Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs of the Government of India from 2014 to 2019. Meanwhile from 2009 to 2014 he served as the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha. Jaitley decided not to join the Modi Cabinet in 2019 due to health issues.
