Allotment of 22 govt quarters in Delhi cancelled: Govt

The Centre received 180 complaints till June regarding subletting of government quarters in Delhi, prompting authorities to cancel the allotment of 22 accommodations, the Lok Sabha was informed Thursday.

In a written reply to a question in the House, Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said 119 government quarters were inspected after receiving complaints and 74 of them were suspected to be given to subtenants.

“Notice were issued in all cases. Allotment of 22 quarters has been cancelled due to subletting and 11 cases were closed since subletting was not proved,” Puri said.

The localities from where the complaints were received include Albert Square, Andrews Gunj, Ali Ganj, Aram Bagh, Dwarka, DIZ area, Hanuman Road, Kali Bari Marg, Kasturba Nagar, Lancer Road and Laxmi Bai Nagar.
