Hyderabad:
As many as 50 stray dogs were found killed at a village in Nalgonda district of Telangana, an official said Thursday.
According to district panchayat officer-in-charge N Yadaiah, the dogs were culled following the village sarpanch Nayak’s orders after villagers complained of stray dogs attacking cattle and people at times.
The killing reportedly took place three days ago and the carcassed dumped near a project site, Yadaiah said.
District collector Gaurav Uppal has ordered an inquiry into the incident, he said.
The sarpanch did not consult any of the officials on how to tackle the issue after he received several complaints of the dog menace, Yadaiah told PTI.
He further said it was still unknown how the animals were killed because there were no injury marks on the carcasses.
