New Delhi:
The foreigners tribunals (FTs), which determines nationality of suspected citizens in Assam, have disposed of over 1.36 lakh cases in the last five years while 1.4 lakh cases were pending as on December 31, 2020, Lok Sabha was informed on Tuesday.
Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said FTs are functioning only in Assam at present and as per the information made available by the state government, the total number of cases pending in these tribunals as on December 31, 2020 are 1,40,050.
The total cases disposed of by the FTs in the last five years is 1,36,064, he said in a written reply to a question.
